Rajinikanth – bus conductor turned superstar

In this long journey of Indian cinema, many such stars shone on the silver screen, which kept the audience engaged. But only a few of these artists made the audience sit on their heads. South Indian superstar Rajinikanth ruled the hearts of the audience as a star who was given the status of God. Rajinikanth was born on 12 December 1950 in Mysore, Bangalore. His father’s name was Ramoji Rao Gaikwad, and he was a police constable. His mother’s name was Jijabai, and she was a housewife. He is the youngest of four siblings, with sister Aswath Balubhai and two elder brothers Satyanarayana Rao and Nageswara Rao. He did his early education at Gavipuram Government Model Primary School.

He was good at studies, so his brother enrolled him in math run by the Ramakrishna Mission. There he started taking an interest in spiritual things along with his studies. He also started participating in the programs held at the Math. In the play Mahabharata, he played the character of Eklavya’s friend K, which was appreciated by the audience and the famous poet D.R. Bendre. After that, he studied at Acharya Pathshala Public School. He continued to participate in plays. When his studies were over, he started thinking about his career. He did various jobs in Bangalore and Madras, ranging from coolies to carpenters. Then he got a job as a conductor in the Bangalore Transport Service. The money problem was solved, but he continued with his acting. He somehow managed to get admission to the MGR Film and Television Institute of Tamil Nadu with the help of a friend, Raj Bahadur.

His acting during a play attracted Tamil filmmaker K Balachander, and he inspired Rajinikanth to learn Tamil. Rajinikanth started his film career with the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal, also by Balachander. He played the role of an abusive husband in this film. The critics highly appreciated the film, and her work was also appreciated. His journey started after this took him toward the superstar. His unique style of acting and speaking Sawando made him the heartthrob of the audience. He has identified with Tamil films and South Indian languages, Malayalam, and Kannada language films. In 1983, he made his Bollywood debut with Andha Kanoon alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini. He acted in a total of 190 films. Besides acting, Rajinikanth also worked as a screenwriter, film producer, and playback singer.

She made her Hollywood debut in 1988 with the film Bloodstone. However, the film failed. In 2007, Rajinikanth became the highest-grossing actor in Asia after Jackie Chan, taking ₹46 crores for the film Sivaji. He received India’s third-highest award, the Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to Indian cinema. Rajinikanth married Latha Rangachari in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Latha had interviewed Rajinikanth for her college magazine, and the two fell in love. Both tied the knot on 26 February 1981. They have two daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya. The elder daughter, Aishwarya, married actor Dhanush on 18 November 2004, and the younger daughter, Soundarya, married businessman Shwin Ramkumar on 3 September 2010. He is the first actor to be included in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syllabus. Apart from this, many jokes and stories are available on the internet.

Once, his fans formed a party to bring him into politics, after which he had to clarify in the media that he had nothing to do with that program.
