Assam, Guwahati: A drug-addicted youth suddenly pulls a chain from a young woman’s neck on the streets of Guwahati. On the other hand a lady drugs peddler an absconding
catches the young man, on whom the money for his drugs is lent. A fierce verbal war ensues between the two. This is the scene of a street play called Sanskar. Brothers, a national level social organization, staged it on the streets of Guwahati to give a message against drug addiction. Anuvrat Samiti and Mission Peace of Guwahati contributed in this. It was composed and directed by Dr. Divyajyoti Saikia, a national level human rights and social activist of Assam, with the aim of creating awareness against drug addiction. Along with street plays, awareness meetings were also organized. Street plays were staged at 10 places in Guwahati and the brothers and members of the Anuvrat Samiti gave their views on it. During this, Saikia told how youth who are addicted to drugs can be pulled out with the help of police. Many members of the committee also kept things in front of the people.
