We have to work with a firm commitment and policy that no farmer should commit suicide in the country – Telangana State Chief Minister

Hyderabad: The Chief Minister of Telangana State , Shri Chandrasekhar Rao invited the activists working in the farmers’ movement in Maharashtra and informed them about the progress made in agriculture and other fields of Telangana state in the last seven years and urged them to make a direct inspection in the state. Senior farmer leaders Shri Dashrath Sawant, Shri Manik Kadam, Adv Yogesh Pande and other farmers were present on this occasion.

Giving information about this, Mr. Manik Kadam said that no farmer has committed suicide in the last 4 years in Telangana state. Free electricity is continuously provided to the farmers in this state, Rs.10,000 per acre is directly paid to each farmer every year as insurance cover, the river linking project of Krishna and Godavari rivers has been successfully completed in the state, and in case of death of a farmer due to any reason, his family members are given five lakh as aid. Mr. Kadam said that the Chief Minister himself informed us that many other various schemes are being implemented in the state.

The Hon’ble Chief Minister devoted full time to discussing the Telangana model with interest for two consecutive days. Expressing deep sorrow over the daily suicide of farmers in the state of Maharashtra, he appealed to take a firm stand on this. He said henceforth , we have to work with a firm commitment and policy that no farmer should commit suicide in the country.
