India and Russia signed a contract for the purchase of AK-203

New Delhi: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu have also reached India before the arrival of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Both the ministers met their counterparts Dr. S. Jaishankar and Rajnath Singh. After this meeting, the round of meetings has now started.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu held a meeting in New Delhi today. During this, both the leaders signed the agreements between India and Russia. Under this, agreements like contract for procurement of 6,01,427 7.63×39mm assault rifle AK-203 through Indo-Russia Rifles Private Limited, Program for Military-Technical Cooperation from 2021-2031 were signed.

During the meeting, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that today’s annual India-Russia summit once again reaffirms the vital importance of the Special Strategic Partnership between our countries in the evolving geopolitical situation. Rajnath Singh said that defense cooperation is one of the most important pillars of our partnership. I hope that the India-Russia partnership will bring peace to the entire region and provide stability to the region.

Rajnath Singh further said that India-Russia relations are based on the basis of a common interest in multilateralism, global peace, prosperity, mutual understanding and trust. During the meeting, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that India-Russia cooperation in military and technical field is especially important at this time for the relationship of our countries. We had a detailed discussion with Raksha Mantri about defense sector cooperation in the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission today.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar held a meeting in New Delhi today. During the meeting, Dr. S Jaishankar while addressing the media said that this is our fourth meeting. It symbolizes the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia. Today we have the opportunity to discuss not only our bilateral relations and the global situation, but we will also participate in the first 2+2 meeting.

He said that the annual India-Russia summit is a unique event for us. PM Modi and President Putin share a relationship of trust. We are looking forward to very important outcomes from the summit. The India-Russia partnership is unique. I am sure that today’s talks will be very fruitful.
