New Delhi: Defending youth world champion Sachin of India advanced to the quarter-finals of the men’s 57kg category at the Ilorda Cup with an impressive win over Yakhlas Gilichzanov in Kazakhstan capital Nur-Sultan. Sachin delivered a power-packed performance towards registering a 5-0 one-sided victory against his rival from Turkmenistan. Looking the most aggressive of both the boxers, Sachin displayed a brilliant display of skilful boxing and dominated the match throughout the match. Meanwhile, apart from Simranjit Kaur, the challenges of two other Indian boxers came to an end after their defeat on the second day of the tournament. Simranjit, who won a bronze medal at the World Championships, went down 2-3 in the women’s 60kg last-8 round bout against Xu Jichun of China. Lakshya Chahar and Harsh Lakra, on the other hand, suffered a 0-5 loss to their Kazakh rivals in the men’s section. Defending national champion Lakshya lost to Abzal Kuttibekov in the quarter-finals of the 86kg category, while Harsh was defeated by Yerasil Zhakpekov in the preliminary round of the 80kg category.
